History & Vision

Drs. Jackie and Cheryl Johns
The Center for Pentecostal Ministry was founded in 1989 by Dr. Jackie Johns. It was his desire to help Pentecostal churches learn how to better fulfill their mission by taking seriously their own Pentecostal theology and spirituality. The vision of the Center is to develop and provide resources and training for Pentecostal congregations and ministries that is faithful to the core beliefs of the Pentecostal movement. At the heart of the movement is a Wesleyan vision of the sanctified life as one of sharing in the love of God, which finds its fullest expression in a Spirit-filled life.
Mission
The mission of the Center for Pentecostal Ministry is to provide practical and theologically informed resources and training opportunities supportive of Pentecostal ministries.
The Center seeks to support individuals, congregations, and other religious bodies committed to the Pentecostal faith tradition. It focuses on discipleship and congregational life. The Johns are available to assist churches in the development of small group ministries, Bible study methods, marriage and family ministries, and strategic planning.
